The creative process of art-making is both messy and magical, frustrating and fluid. It can bring an artist‘s insecurities up to the surface, yet asks for complete and total trust. Join professional dance artist, writer, and fiber artist, Alicia Peterson Baskel, as she interviews a new and different artist each week. You will hear from artists and writers across genres about their journey through the creative process toward their masterpieces. These conversations will encourage YOU to make your art. To value your art and to value the work of others. To push boundaries and to be willing to step into the unknown and trust yourself. To trust your creative intuition. (Photo Credit: Jim Carmody)

Dance Artist Eric Geiger on Honoring our Artistic Lineage

Dance artist Eric Geiger shares his incredible journey from studying on scholarship at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center to working with Bill T. Jones, Nancy McCaleb, Deborah Hay, and many, many others. Eric’s reverence for those who paved the way before him adds depth to his work and his teaching. His processes demand responsible citizenship by making a space for Otherness. “I imagine dance as a place in which we can practice embodiment together from a place of love, and let that generate a beauty that we may not understand right away, and that we will consistently need to reevaluate.” You can connect with Eric Geiger on Instagram at @ericandrewgeiger and see excerpts of his dance work on Vimeo.
